Founded in 2023 and registered as a 501(c)(3) in 2024, GCAS was established to support Glynn County Animal Services. Our volunteers support the shelter hosting workdays to improve and maintain the shelter, networking and fostering dogs, raising money and gathering in-kind donations to support the shelter's day to day operations.
We have brought the community together around activities including fostering, play yard improvements, and fundraising.
Collecting signatures to show Glynn County commissioners that their constituents want to see change to the current tethering ordinance.
We have organized and run events that aid in adoption, raise funds, provide education, and create awareness around current laws.
We have raised over $40,000 that directly supports the Glynn County Shelter and it's dogs and cats.
Seasonal design T-shirts is just one way that GCAS raises funds to help support our efforts.
Working with other community organizations and rescues, our goal is to help increase the live outcome at Glynn County Animal Services.
Leopold is a terrier bulldog mix, but all lover. He’s super friendly and loves walks with his mom and doggie sister, Kara. He probably loves the beach walks most because he wears doggles to protect his eyes due to chronic dry eye, and he gets LOTS of attention! Once you pet Leo, he’s your friend for life! Since being fostered, he’s been healed from heartworm and his dry eye and skin issues are under control.
Bosco is a two-year old English Pointer who loves playing with his fur-brothers and sister, chasing birds and squirrels, destroying squeaky toys, and chewing anything his parents give him. He came into the shelter as a stray who was heartworm positive, lacking human socialization, and seemingly somewhat feral. He found a foster home in May 2024, slowly learned how to be a dog who is safe and loved, and he was adopted two months later in July.
Izzy is a 2 yr old Pittie mix who her mom describes as a spitfire. She runs circles around her doggie brother (her Fi says she gets 40k steps a day on average!) but also loves to snuggle. She was fostered in May 2024 after being put on "the list" for kennel stress - it didn't take long for her foster family to know that she fit in perfectly in their home. She was adopted just one week after being fostered.
Willie is a 5 yr old Am Staff mix who loves to lay in the sun and go for walks. He isn't known to turn down a treat and his favorite place to go is the bank drive-through (well, any drive through where they hand out treats). If he's not laying in the sun, you'll find him upside down in his chair, sleeping and snoring or posting on his Instagram @woofssi. He was adopted in December 2023 after being heartworm positive in the shelter for a year.
