Sandy

Sandy is everything you want in a furry best friend—gentle, loyal, a little goofy, and so ready to love. This beautiful 2-year-old mixed-breed girl is spayed, heartworm positive, and has been patiently waiting at Glynn County Animal Services since November. She’s also one of the beloved “24 from ’24”—dogs who have spent far too long waiting for their forever families.

True to her name, Sandy is soft, warm, and wonderfully devoted. Once she settles in, she enjoys being near her person while still maintaining a calm, independent confidence. She shines during outings with our Running Buddies, where her curious personality and love of exploring really come to life.

Sandy would be best described as a medium-energy girl who enjoys being out and about. She does pull a bit on leash at times—mostly because the world is fascinating and she wants to investigate everything—but she settles into a nice rhythm with guidance. On recent outings, she eagerly explored the park, happily sniffed through patches of clover (a clear favorite), and even sampled a puppacino like a pro. She also showed great house manners by going potty right away when given the opportunity.

While Sandy may seem a bit indifferent to strangers at first, she warms up in her own quiet way and remains gentle and easy to handle. She can be a little jumpy with new surroundings but gains confidence quickly. With other dogs, Sandy is friendly, tail-waggy, and social, though she would still benefit from a meet-and-greet to ensure a good match.

Sandy’s ideal home would be with an active, experienced dog owner—someone who enjoys hiking, running, or outdoor adventures and can provide both physical activity and gentle guidance as she continues to build confidence.

Sandy came to the shelter as a found dog in early November and has been waiting patiently ever since. She’s one of the final pups from our special “24 from ’24” group, and we’d love nothing more than to see that number drop to zero—with Sandy heading home.
