Jolene

Jolene is a beautiful 2+ year-old, 50-pound sweetheart with the softest grey coat and an even softer heart. She loves people, enjoys other dogs, and has all the makings of a loyal, gentle companion.

Jolene has spent far too long in the shelter environment after arriving in August 2024, but every time she gets out, she proves just how wonderful she truly is. On leash, she strolls calmly at a comfortable pace and remains unfazed by runners, strollers, rollerbladers, and other dogs. Running Buddies volunteers describe her as “sooooo chill” and an absolute joy to spend time with.

During her time in foster (where she was affectionately called Josie), she truly blossomed. She was house trained, crate trained, rode well in the car, and knew basic commands like sit and lay down. She learned quickly and would politely sit when she was unsure—patiently waiting for guidance and maybe a treat. She got along beautifully with her foster’s smaller dogs and showed herself to be calm, respectful, and adaptable.

Now back at the shelter, Jolene continues to show her gentle spirit whenever she gets time outside of her kennel. She is affectionate, loves belly rubs, and when given space to stretch her legs, she’ll happily zoom around and then trot back to show off her manners. She is very people-focused and simply wants to share her heart.

Shelter life can sometimes make her anxious, but outside of that environment, she shines. She has even been described as a potential candidate for service work due to her intelligence, calm demeanor, and trainability.

Jolene has faced the uncertainty of being on the euthanasia list, yet she continues to show up with grace and love. What she needs now is stability—a foster or forever home where she can feel secure and truly settle in.

If you’re looking for a devoted sidekick with great manners and the softest fur you’ve ever felt, Jolene may be the one you’ve been waiting for. 🩶
