Costa is a 2-year-old neutered mixed-breed boy with movie-star looks and the kind of personality that makes him unforgettable. He’s heartworm positive, full of life, and more than ready to trade kennel living for a home, a routine, and someone who truly sees him.

Costa loves people—loves them. Car rides, beach days, runs, long walks, backyard playtime, and simply being by your side are all right up his alley. He shines brightest outside the shelter and has become a volunteer and staff favorite through the Running Buddies program, where he shows off his great leash manners, playful energy, and affectionate nature.

While Costa enjoys walking near other dogs, he hasn’t shown interest in playing with them and would do best as the only dog in the home. He would also prefer a cat-free home. Because of his size, strength, and enthusiasm, Costa would thrive with an active adopter and may do best in a home with older children who won’t be accidentally knocked over during his excited greetings.

Running Buddies describe Costa as a happy, energetic boy who knows his name, knows how to sit, loves sniffing everything in sight, and fully enjoys rolling around in wet grass. Outside the shelter, he’s proven himself to be an A+ companion—fetch champion, cuddle pro, and all-around good pal.

Costa is also one of the remaining dogs from our special “24 from ’24” group—dogs who have waited far too long for their forever homes. Despite spending months in a kennel, Costa’s spirit hasn’t dimmed one bit. Give him freedom, attention, and love, and he will give you his whole heart in return.
