Lady is a 5-year-old spayed Pit mix with a heart of pure gold and one of the gentlest souls you’ll ever meet. She is heartworm negative, kid-friendly, and one of the longest residents at Glynn County Animal Services, having arrived in late February. Despite her long stay, Lady has never stopped loving—she’s just been waiting for someone to notice her.
Shelter life has been hard on Lady. Recently, she has begun losing weight, likely due to the stress of living in a noisy kennel environment. What she truly needs is a foster or forever home where she can decompress, feel safe, and finally rest. Even so, Lady remains affectionate, eager to please, and endlessly loving.
Lady recently enjoyed a field trip out of the shelter—and she absolutely shined. She rode calmly in the car, relaxed and content in the back seat, and walked beautifully on leash around the St. Simons Island pier and lighthouse. She showed minimal pulling, took direction easily, and was perfectly happy trotting alongside her handler or sitting and soaking in the day. Lady loved meeting new people and remained calm and polite around other dogs, ignoring most and greeting a few appropriately. She proved herself to be exactly what she is: a wonderful companion dog.
Lady does best with calm, respectful dogs and would thrive either with mellow canine friends or as the cherished center of attention. She’s on the smaller side, making her a great fit for many living environments. At home, she’s a total love bug—happy to curl up close, rest her head on your chest, and soak up affection.
Lady’s past wasn’t kind. She was found with old BB gun injuries, evidence of a life that gave her every reason not to trust. Yet somehow, she chose love anyway. Once she feels safe, she melts into affection, revealing a quiet, loyal, deeply loving dog who just wants to belong.
Lady is available for adoption, rescue pull, or fostering. Fostering is completely free and includes all medical care and supplies—she just needs a calm place and a kind heart. If you’re looking for a gentle, devoted companion and have room in your life for a dog who will truly treasure you, please come meet Lady
